Ohio State Football Scrimmage

The Buckeyes held a shortened scrimmage in Ohio Stadium Saturday morning as the team continues spring practice leading up to the spring game on Saturday April 23. The Defense (Gray) beat the Offense (Scarlet) 87-72. The scrimmage was called after a lightning strike near the stadium.

The scrimmage was open to the media but no photos or video were allowed. After the scrimmage select players gave interviews at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

Here is OSU's Orhian Johnson.

And Mike Adams.

Notes/Thoughts from the scrimmage:

- The Defense looked energized, forcing turnovers and delivering big hits. The offense needs some work.

- No quarterback helped or hurt themselves, everyone had passes dropped.

- Terrelle Pryor did not participate in the scrimmage but was throwing the ball around well in some passing drills.

- At one point Pryor acted as a coach on the field for Braxton Miller.

- Joe Bauserman had a nice fade pass into coverage in the back of the end zone.

- Taylor Graham picked up a first down with an excellent fake handoff. Graham should get some consideration for the QB job.

- Kenny Guiton was stripped of the ball as he dropped back to throw.

- Right now I would set the opening game QB depth chart as:

1) Bauserman

2) Guiton

3) Braxton Miller

4) Graham

5) Justin Siems

2-4 are all very close to each other and could easily catch Bauserman.

- Jaamal Berry had a nice kickoff return for a touchdown. Or in other words the OSU kickoff team is in midseason form.

- Corey Brown (WR #10) made a few good catches in coverage.

- The camouflage helmets looked great.

- The weather started out perfect for football feeling like a fall afternoon. Then very heavy rain quickly moved in. Jim Tressel kept the scrimmage going through the monsoon for about five minutes until the lightning.
