Buckeyes Win 4th Straight, Shut Out Akron 3-0

The beat goes on the Buckeyes as they continued their recent four game winning streak, beating the Akron Zips 3-0. It's the third time in four contests that Ohio State has shut out the opposing team.

The Buckeyes got on the board when Liz Sullivan lofted a shot from 25 yards out over the outstretched hands of Akron goalkeeper Jeny Wolbert and scored her second goal of the season in the 16th minute.

Ohio State would then strike twice in the second half. Kristen Niderhaus scored her first career goal for the Buckeyes in the 51st minute and Tiffany Cameron scored from six yards out in the 71st minute.

The Buckeyes ended up outshooting Akron 18-3, including 10-1 on goal and held a 4-0 advantage in corners. The Buckeyes also put on a defensive clinic, allowing a total of three shots and 1 shot on goal.

The Buckeyes will look to push their winning streak to 5 games when they take on Cleveland State at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on Wednesday at 7:30 pm EST.
